Welcome

From the Head Teacher, Mrs Ward

Welcome to Bulford St Leonard’s School. Our website gives you information and a flavour of our school which we hope you will find useful. There is always something happening at our school to celebrate.
We have tried to share some of that excitement and pride through this site and allow you to see why our school motto of ‘Learning and Friendship’ runs through our everyday school life.

Our school is a Church of England Primary which became Voluntary Aided on 1st January 2005, and where Christian Values are explicitly taught. We have strong links to both the church of St. Leonard’s and Salisbury Cathedral, and our Collective Worship is in line with the school’s Trust Deed.
The pupils, staff governors and parents are very proud of our happy and caring school. We believe that all our children deserve the very best and our school community work hard together to strive for excellence. Our school is a positive, happy and fun-filled place where everyone works together to get the best for our children. We value our children and they are given the support and confidence to aspire and reach their dreams.

In our last Ofsted Report the Inspectors said: All teachers know pupils well and are passionate about supporting the development of their self-esteem and confidence whilst at the school.”

We serve a catchment which includes both the village and the nearby army camp at Bulford and approximately 50% of our pupils come from service families. We were very proud that the Ofsted inspectors commented on how well the pupils in school support and look after each other, particularly those new to the school, and how enthusiastically they all talk about their school.
“The 'friendship stop' and pupil 'friendship patrol' are outstanding features of the good personal qualities exhibited by children at Bulford St Leonard’s. Pupils enjoy school and their attendance is consistently well above the national average. They feel they are able to make a valuable contribution to the life of the school community and show high levels of respect for themselves and each other.”

“Parents are overwhelmingly supportive of the school and particularly value the caring, inclusive ethos.”

We are linked with Enkalweni Junior Secondary School in South Africa’s Eastern Cape and we keep in touch with them through letters, postcards and reciprocal visits. Our children love finding out about our friends in Africa and sharing their learning. Ofsted said “Pupils take great care of each other and are successfully helped to develop respect and understanding of differences. They have particularly good awareness of other cultures”

We look forward to welcoming you to our school and working with you to ensure that all children leave us with a love of learning and that they are well on their way to becoming life-long learners.
